How to Be a Sensual Woman

Sensuality is defined by Merriam-Webster as "Relating to or consisting of the gratification of the senses or the indulgence of appetites." Sensuality is a way to live life with the senses fully aware of the pleasurable aspects of nature, the human body, joy and interactions with others. Sensuality is focusing on the physical enjoyment of the body; it also helps with trauma recovery, strengthens emotional development, creates an ease and relaxation in the body, and helps the mind to focus on the joy of movement and awareness of all the senses.

  1. Engage the senses by going for a nature walk or a walkabout in a city to see the vibrancy of the movement of the people. Getting outside and letting the senses of sight and sound have many different experiences helps the mind to get engaged and alert and builds sensuality. Feel the body as the rhythm of walking takes over the senses. Absorb how the body feels alive and sensual while involved in movement.

  2. Eat natural foods. The body is at its most sensual when it is in prime health. Consume vegetables and fruits. Many of these items are naturally sensual and very enjoyable to eat. Foods such as raspberries, mangoes, strawberries, grapes, coconut, red peppers, honeydew melons, peaches, avocados, asparagus and mushrooms are quite sensual and full of nutrients too.

  3. Participate in sensual massage alone or with a partner. A sensual massage soothes the muscles, stimulates arousal, eliminates stress and helps the body become focused on joy and the pleasures of the senses. Massage oils in sensual scents such as vanilla, gardenia and invigorating mint add the sense of aroma to a massage.

  4. Keep a sensual home. Fill spaces with sensual colors; soft, sexy fabrics; and items that remind the occupant of exotic places and sensual experiences. Use exotic scents such as essential oil of sandalwood or incense to scent the air.

  5. Dancing is a wonderful way to hone the sensual nature. Dancing, whether indoor or outdoor, alone or with a partner, brings joy to the body and enlivens all of the senses. The rhythmic movements of dance help the body to both relax and revitalize with positive energy. Dancing is an activity that focuses the mind on the body and allows mental and physical stress to be released.

  6. Create a sensual garden of colorful and scented flowers and trees. Trees and flowers with sensual scents include gardenia, lilacs, roses, lavender, petunias, lily of the valley, honeysuckle, hyacinth and mint. Exotic flowers that add an air of sensuality to any garden include the iris, poppy and bee balm.

  7. Keep the mind stimulated by reading extensively and engaging in new experiences. Break up the daily routine with books about exotic places and experiences that teach new skills or provide new adventures.

    Find time to give your senses pleasurable experiences.

    Eliminate clutter to enjoy a home that is sensual and soothing.
