Health Trainer Treadmills
Health Trainer treadmills are manufactured by Keys Fitness in Garland, Texas. Keys Fitness began by producing strength training products and added treadmills to the line of equipment in 1997. Health Trainer treadmills offer affordable treadmills, including features that, for instance, allow you to change your running speed and incline while exercising. While the company produces highly rated treadmills, the quality and value of Health Trainer treadmills varies considerably.
Health Trainer Treadmills
Most Health Trainer treadmills are foldable and lightweight -- making storage, transportation and set up easy. Health Trainer treadmills appear to be targeted for the lower-end of the treadmill market, and . As of 2014, Health Trainer treadmill prices range from around $600 to $2,000.
At the High End
Most high-end Health Trainers over $1000 have the same features of other brands in the same price range, and Keys Manufacturing uses high quality parts. But the electronics boards are said to be problematic. Some of the most expensive Health Trainer treadmills lack the 60-inch belts needed to fit runners of all heights, which may not be a problem if you are a short-to-average height runner with a shorter stride. But most reviewers agree that if you are going to invest in a high-end treadmill, you would do better to go with a more established brand like PreCore or LifeFitness.
Value in the Middle
If you are looking for a treadmill costing between $550 to $1000, Keys makes some Health Trainer treadmills that have received positive reviews. For example, the Keys Health Trainer HT502T has an MSRP of $599, and received a positive review from the Treadmill Guru. The HT502T is light-weight and sturdy, best suited for walking or light jogging. It has a weight limit of 250 pounds, so heavier shoppers will want to steer clear, or invest a bit more to get a commercial grade treadmill.
At the Low End
Whether investing in a Health Trainer or another treadmill in the under-$500 range, you essentially get what you pay for. Small motors, short belts, limited features and faulty electronics can become annoying enough to discourage you from exercising. That being said, because Keys Manufacturing uses better-quality parts, you may still be better off with this make on the low end. Keys is a small company committed to providing jobs for US workers, so if you want to support the economy while getting an equitable product for your money, the Health Trainer may be your best bet.
