Exercise DVDs can be convenient options for busy people or people on a budget because you do not need to travel to the gym or pay for a gym membership. Insanity is a fitness program with a variety of DVDs, and it can help you get a toned look if you put in enough effort. Be sure to get your doctor’s approval before starting any exercise routine.
Beachbody and Insanity
Top-selling workout programs from Beachbody include P90X, TurboFire, Power 90 and Insanity. Insanity is a 60-day program that includes 10 workout DVDs and does not require any additional weights or equipment. The instructor for each workout is Shaun T., leader of Hip-Hop Abs, another Beachbody program. Workouts include high-intensity intervals, plyometrics and aerobic segments to help you control your weight and improve your fitness. Insanity promises a toned body by the end of the program.
Insanity can help build strength and tone your muscles all over your body. Various workouts within the Insanity program emphasize upper-body and lower-body toning. Some workouts integrate exercise for your core and abdominals. Benefits of resistance training, or strength training, include reducing the risk of injuries, maintaining your bone mineral density and improving your strength, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. Using your own body weight for resistance is an alternative to strength training with weights. Insanity workouts do not require extra equipment, and you get toned using just your body weight.
Insanity can help you lose excess body fat to make your muscles more visible and give your body a toned look. To lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit, or expend more calories than you consume. According to the CDC, losing a pound of body fat requires a deficit of 3,500 calories. Beachbody claims that you can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour while doing Insanity. Insanity workouts are 30 to 86 minutes long.
You are most likely to get toned using Insanity when you follow the program consistently. In addition to the 10 workouts, the Insanity package includes a calendar with a 60-day workout schedule. Insanity’s online support can help you stay motivated to exercise. The program also comes with a nutrition plan to help you increase your energy during workouts. In addition to becoming toned, Insanity can help you improve your cardiovascular, or aerobic, fitness.
