Calories are the units of energy found in all the different food and drinks you consume and they are burned during every minute of every day. Boxercise is a combination of various physical activities associated with boxing but designed to give you a full workout and appreciation of the specific skills.

Calorie Equation

The rate you burn calories is calculated using a variety of factors. Your starting weight, the amount of time you spend doing the chosen activity and in some cases, such as running or cycling, the speed you travel. The Harvard Medical School provides a chart listing the number of calories burned, at three varying weights, based on a 30-minute session.

Circuit Training

Boxercise includes sessions of circuit training that are designed to match the same level of intensity found in any aerobic workout. If you weigh 155 lbs. and spend half an hour circuit training, you'll burn 298 calories. If you weigh 185 lbs. you'll burn 355 calories over the same time period.

Sparring

Learning and practicing different punches and footwork takes place in the sparring ring. If you weigh 155 lbs. and spend 30 minutes sparring, you'll burn 335 calories. If you weigh 185 lbs. you'll burn 400 calories every half an hour.
