What Are the Benefits of Different Types of Bra Straps?
These days, there are so many different bras that it can be hard to know which types to pick. Different bra straps have different functions. Some work better with certain pieces of clothing and some work better for certain body types. If you're not sure the benefits of different types of bra straps, don't fret. Once you learn a few basic rules, picking the best bras for you will be a cinch.
Balconette bras, unlike others, have straps that sit further out on the bra. They also tend to be a bit more revealing than a classic demi-bra and are ideal for lower-cut tops if you really want to show off your curves. Because these bras don't contain a whole lot of support, they're more suited for ladies will smaller breasts.
Sports bras come with very thick straps which provide maximum support. There's nothing worse than exercising without breast support. Not only are sports bras more comfy, they also support the ligaments which support breast tissue. Without the added support a sports bra offers, repeated high-impact exercise can cause permanent damage to this sensitive tissue. Make sure to slip on a sports bra before you hit the gym for comfort, support and overall well-being.
There's nothing worse than wearing a cute racerback top and having visible bra straps. Racerback brasform a sort of "X" shape in back, which allows you to wear racerback tops and dresses without showing your bra straps. Typically these bras involve a front closure and are idea for allowing you to be supported and stylish at the same time.
Halter bras offer similar support as racerbacks, but specifically are meant to be worn with halter styles. The strap goes around your neck, and offers good support without having to ruin your outfit by exposing your bra. If you don't want to spend bucks on a racerback and a halter bra, try a convertible bra with removable straps which can be manipulated to fit both styles.
Sometimes strapless is the best way to go. If you're wearing a strapless top or dress, wearing no bra straps is really your only option if you want to look chic and well put together. If you don't require as much support, strapless bras can be worn with halter and racerback tops and dresses as well, depending on your preference. Since the main support for a strapless bra comes from the band around your rib cage, be sure your strapless bra is fastened to fit snugly.
