The Celebrity Anti-Aging Secret Is Actually a Special Type of Yoga

Fresh-faced Alicia Keys has an anti-aging secret.

Looking young and radiant is the unspoken prerequisite in Hollywood. Celebrities of all ages are committed to amping up the glow and — luckily for the rest of us — their beauty secrets usually become public knowledge.

For Alicia Keys, her secret goes deeper than a killer skin care regimen, according to “Entertainment Tonight.” The 35-year-old mentor on “The Voice” and Grammy-Award-winning music artist’s practice of Kundalini yoga has provided her with a natural radiance apparent in her recent makeup-free appearances.

This type of yoga practice fuses physical (kriya_)_ sequences involving holding a pose or repetitive stretches with spiritual practices like chanting and breathing techniques to infuse the yogis with both vitality and consciousness.

The songstress practices with Venice, California-based Guru Jagat, who spoke to “ET” about Kundalini’s beautifying abilities: “The pituitary gland, the pineal gland, the hypothalamus, these kind of glandular centers in the brain — those are solely responsible for the way you age,” she says. “Every time you do a Kundalini yoga kriya meditation, it stimulates those parts of the brain centers."

Looking younger than her 35 years, the mother of two seems to be benefiting from Kundalini's purported anti-aging powers. In addition to yoga, Keys told Elle UK that eliminating dairy and consuming lots of water helped her once-blemished skin recover.

Keys now joins a long list of well-known age-defying celebrities who have fallen in love with Kundalini, including Demi Moore, Cindy Crawford, Reese Witherspoon, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson.
