The Best Dance Exercise Videos
Dancing is one of the best ways to keep your body and mind in shape, and the best dance exercise videos are the ones that motivate you, challenge you and leave you feeling exhilarated. The videos make you excited to work out, boost your confidence in your abilities and let you witness your gradual progress. Best of all, they tone your body and strengthen your muscles while you’re having fun.
New York City Ballet Workout
The New York City Ballet Workout focuses on building strength, control, precision, agility and toning. Despite being performed by advanced dancers from the New York City Ballet, the workout itself is adaptable to dancers of any level. If you’re a beginner, you'll be able to easily adapt each exercise and movement to your skill level--perhaps by holding a pose for only four counts instead of eight counts or by doing each movement at half-tempo instead of full tempo. If you’re an experienced dancer, the New York City Ballet Workout will provide the routine necessary to keep your body in shape.
Dance with Julianne: Cardio Ballroom
Julianne Hough of Dancing with the Stars shows her fun and friendly side in Dance with Julianne: Cardio Ballroom. She’s always a teacher, reminding you to keep resistance in your arms and noting different elements of style and technique. She choreographs enjoyable routines that are easy to break down but that still provide an intense workout. Beginners might have trouble with certain moves, but Hough includes a tutorial segment that further breaks down the motions that provide the greatest challenge.
10-Minute Solution: Fat Blasting Dance Mix
Led by Los Angeles dancer and fitness instructor Jennifer Galardi, 10-Minute Solution: Fat Blasting Dance Mix consists of five 10-minute workouts. The workouts are designed to get you warmed up, worked out and cooled down when time is of the essence. Two of the workouts are toning workouts--one attacking your butt and thighs, the other targeting your abs. The other three workouts focus on blasting calories. Galardi’s instruction is fairly clear, always starting with moves at half-time before working up to tempo, and she assigns memorable names to each move, allowing you to easily recall what you’re doing next in a sequence. If you have time to do multiple workouts, you can pick and choose your workouts by creating a customized play list.
Goddess Workout uses belly dance to create a low-impact workout that targets your entire body. Instructor Dolphina always remains encouraging. She understands that belly dance movements are foreign to beginners, and she emphasizes that you should do as much as you can without pushing beyond your capabilities. The workout is broken down into specific body isolations, providing an opportunity for beginners to learn and a chance for experienced dancers to practice and focus on improving technique.
Dirty Dancing Official Dance Workout
The Dirty Dancing Official Dance Workout provides you with a 70-minute workout focused on recreating the most popular dances from Dirty Dancing. You don’t need a partner to exercise with this DVD, and everything is broken down into manageable chunks, providing great instruction for beginners. An 11-minute intro gets things started, then moves into four routines pulled from the movie. For the more experienced dancers, there are two workouts at the end that are straight workout with no instruction.
