How Can I Track My Golf Scores & Statistics?

Golf is a relatively simple game when compared with other popular sports in regards to the number of stats that can be tracked.

While golf is not overwhelmed by numbers, that does not mean that a studious golfer cannot still track some important bits of information that can be used to improve his golf game. Whether you are simply keeping scores to find a handicap, or are tracking other important feats like greens in regulation, following a system is the key to accurate data.

Tracking Stats

  1. Use the scorecard to mark your scores on every hole, as well as to place small marks to note other important stats. If you have your own card, you can use a separate row for each stat, or one extra row for marking all stats other than your score. If your card is full with player names, small marks in the box on each hole can be used.

  1. Place a small G on the card to denote a green made in regulation, meaning you were on the green in two shots less than the par. Circle the G if you got on under regulation.

  1. Place a small F on the card under a hole if you hit the fairway on the hole. You cannot get an F on a par 3.

  1. Record how many putts you take on every hole. Golf pars account for an average of two putts per hole.

  1. Track your handicap score to see your relative skill level. Most courses have a computer that you can enter scores in to track your handicap, or you can calculate your own handicap.
