Technology of Gym Equipment

The technology of gym equipment has come a long way. Composite materials and new design modifications have increased durability in everything from the humble dumbbell to treadmills; this makes them more versatile. In addition, there are now sophisticated machines that feature internet access and compatibility with personal mobile devices.

Digital Connectivity

The fact that digital connectivity has been incorporated into gym equipment should come as no surprise, since it's in your home, office, school, and so many other places. So, while you're programming and using the latest exercise bike, treadmill or elliptical machine, you can surf the Internet, connect with other users, stream music, TV and movies while monitoring your heart rate, receiving nutritional information and keeping a personal log.

Using Apps

Some manufacturers are making machines that can integrate with various apps, allowing you to save your session data. You just log in on your mobile device to access your training program on the equipment and check details from past sessions, such as length of time and machine settings. Some machines even have web cams that let you make video calls -- if you want to call a trainer, doctor, or just to chat with a friend.
