Bull Riding Events in North Carolina
While not regarded as a popular mainstream sport like football, baseball or basketball, bull riding is wildly popular in some places, including North Carolina. For those looking to take in a bull riding event--or perhaps even participate in one--there are plenty of choices in the state.
East of Mesquite Rodeo
This rodeo arena-equestrian hall features weekly bull riding events at certain times in the year (typically in the winter), and incremental events at other times (typically later in the calendar year). East of Mesquite feature its own stable of accomplished professional riders, and amateurs can participate in bull riding, as well, for a nominal fee. All participants must sign a medical release before attempting to ride.

Perhaps the most competitive bull riding event in North Carolina (part of the Built Ford Tough Series), the Winston-Salem Invitational takes place annually in Winston-Salem. In 2010, the event was scheduled for Feb. 5-6, while it was in January the year before. Sponsored by Professional Bull Riding Inc., this rodeo series makes stops in other major rodeo destinations throughout the year, including San Antonio and Las Vegas.
