What Are the Dimensions of a Horseshoe Pit?

Pit Specs

You need a pitcher’s box at each end of a regulation horseshoe pitching court, which must be 72 inches by 72 inches, essentially 6 feet square. Two pitching platforms flank the pit, which can be at most, 36 inches wide by 72 inches long. To allow for less pit fill material, the rules also allow for a reduced size of 31 inches wide by 43 inches long. If you build a narrower pit, the width of the pitching platforms increases slightly, from 18 to 20 1/2 inches wide.
