How to Keep a Skateboard From Vibrating on Rough Ground

When riding any type of transportation device on a rough surface, the wheels, body and struts typically absorb most of the vibration. Due to its design, though, a skateboard has very little in the way of vibration-dampening equipment. However, there are some adjustments you can make to your board so that you’ll have a smoother ride on bumpy or uneven surfaces.

Remove the truck nuts on the board using the socket and screwdriver on the skate tool. You'll need to hold the screwdriver in place inside the screw on the top of the board while turning the socket counter-clockwise. Remove the trucks.

Remove the wheels from the trucks and install the new wheels.

Put the rubber risers onto the Kevlar board.

Place the trucks onto the Kevlar board, which will greatly reduce vibration. Put the screws back on the trucks and tighten them.

Check your new board setup for wheel bite by placing your hands on top of the skateboard and rocking it from side to side at different angles to see whether the wheels rub against the board. If they do, place another rubber riser between the board and the trucks until the problem is fixed.
