When you think of Sylvester Stallone, the man who played Rambo and Rocky, the word “strong” comes to mind. But while the uber-fit actor is no stranger to the intense workouts needed to get in shape for his roles, the workout that has officially pushed Stallone to his physical limit isn’t what you’d expect from the star: a Pilates class.
It is with a lot of humility that Stallone admitted on social media how difficult trying Pilates was for the first time alongside his daughter Sophia Stallone. “Brutal! Working out with my daughter doing Pilates … Oh my God,” he told his 2.5 million followers on Instagram.
The 70-year-old even compared the experience to his time in the ring as Rocky taking on two of his biggest adversaries played by Mr. T and Dolph Lundgren, respectively. “This is like going the distance with Clubber Lang and Drago before breakfast! This is an amazing workout, but definitely not for the faint of heart,” he added. “I’ve lifted weights. I have boxed, wrestled, track and field, played football and many other sports … But this workout pushes you to the limit … And beyond!”
As he attempted to catch his breath, Stallone issued a warning to anyone wanting to try out a reformer. “For anyone who has never tried Pilates, the name sounds cute, but it ain’t cute.” Sophia echoed the same sentiment while sitting next to her dad.
So the next time you’re feeling like a Pilates workout is truly kicking your butt, don’t go too hard on yourself. Just remember, even Rocky Balboa gets wiped out from an intense Pilates session — just like the rest of us.
