How to Make a 49CC Pocket Bike Faster

Shop around for the best prices on aftermarket parts. Once you have located a reputable supplier for the parts, purchase them. Since you will be replacing your stock parts to allow for more air and fuel to enter your motor for maximum performance and speed, you will want to get the best parts you can afford.

Use a screwdriver to remove the protective plastic body covering from your bike. Locate the header bolts by following the exhaust to the front of the motor. Remove the header bolts using your ratchet set. Next unbolt the muffler mounting bolts, again using your ratchet set, and pull off the old exhaust. Install the new aftermarket exhaust. You will also want to bolt on the end of the new muffler to the exhaust pipe at the same time you install your new exhaust.

Locate and remove your restrictive stock air filter and replace it with the aftermarket free flow, high performance one. Remove your old spark plug and replace it with the aftermarket spark plug. These changes will provide a better flow of air into the motor and more spark, resulting in more power throughout your RPM range.

Examine all the bolts and make sure they're properly tightened before remounting the plastic protective covering on your bike. Start up your bike, listening for a stronger sound and a lot more horsepower.

  • Be sure your spark plug is properly gapped before installing it.
