Treadmills are a nifty tool for getting your recommended dose of cardiovascular exercise, whether at home or at the gym. If you don't know how often to work out, stick to the recommended guidelines for cardiovascular exercise. When you go the distance on a treadmill, you end up going the distance for your health.
Daily Dose of the Treadmill
To find out how often to jump on the treadmill, look to the recommended guidelines for cardiovascular activity. The Centers for Disease Control recommends a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking, per week. You could also do a minimum of 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise, such as running or jogging, per week. You can split up your workout into 10-minute segments throughout your week if you find yourself low on time. You can get on a treadmill three to five times per week or even more as long as you reach the recommend exercise times.
