How do I Lubricate a Trimline Treadmill?
Trimline Treadmills, though no longer being produced, possess sturdy decks and high weight capacities. Nautilus Health & Fitness Group, the second largest seller of fitness equipment, purchased the Trimline brand name. Most models require very little maintenance. Lubricating your treadmill helps keep it running properly. You'll need to lubricate your treadmill every 12 months if you use it less than three hours weekly, every six months if you use it up to five hours each week and every three months if you use it more than five hours per week.
Turn off the power and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Inspect the deck by lifting the belt from the surface of the deck using one hand and feeling the walking deck with your other hand. It is time to lubricate the deck when the surface is dry. Trimline treadmills come pre-lubricated to prevent walking belt friction and improve the life of the treadmill.
Locate the rear adjustment bolts. They tighten and loosen the walking belt as necessary. Trimline treadmills come equipped with two or four bolts on the left and right side of the back section of the walking belt.
Loosen each bolt using the 3/16 hex wrench that came with your treadmill. You don't need to unscrew the bolts all the way, just enough to lift the walking belt a few inches from the platform so that you can lubricate the deck. Turn the bolts counterclockwise a few turns and check that you have enough room to lift the belt. If not, turn the bolts counterclockwise until the belt is loosened as desired. You need to be able to lift the walking belt about 4 inches from the deck.
Lift one side of the walking belt using one hand and spray silicone lube across the surface of the walking deck with the other hand. Walk around to the other side of the treadmill and repeat this procedure.
Tighten the rear adjustment bolts by turning them clockwise using the 3/16 hex wrench. Avoid tightening them all the way. Tighten them just enough so that you can still lift the walking belt between an inch to 2 inches from the walking platform.
Turn the treadmill on a low walking setting and allow it to run for five minutes to disperse the lubricant. After the dispersion is complete, the treadmill is ready for use.
