Review of the Nordictrack 2.25 Treadmill

The 2.25 NordicTrack treadmill is called the T4.0 in the United States; in Canada, it is sold as the NordicTrack Continuous 2.25 treadmill. This is a lower-end, basic treadmill with only a few features. It is adequate for walking and jogging, but may not accommodate serious runners.

The NordicTrack T4.0 is black and gray with a white console, and sells for around $800 as of January 2011. It has a cushioned deck to absorb some of the impact when your heel impacts the running deck. The deck folds up into a vertical position so you can easily roll the treadmill to a different area. The T4.0 has a 250-lb. maximum weight capacity. This is low compared to other NordicTrack treadmills which have weight limits between 300 and 350 lbs.

The T4.0 is 69 inches long, 32.5 inches wide and 57 inches tall. It is more compact than other fold-away treadmills that are usually 70 to 80 inches long. The running area on the T4.0 is 18 by 55 inches, a relatively small area. suggests at least a 20-inch wide belt for running. The 55-inch length may cramp taller runners or those with long strides.

The T4.0 has a speed range of 1 to 10 mph and an incline range of zero to 10 percent. Most other NordicTrack treadmills at this price point offer speeds up to 12 mph and inclines up to 12 or 15 percent. You can plug your MP3 player into the console and listen to tunes through the built-in speakers. Pulse sensors are located on the inner handlebars, offering a convenient way to check your heart rate.

The T4.0 has 12 built-in workout programs, and you can select a calorie or a time goal. The treadmill automatically adjusts the speed and incline during your workout, although you can override these using the control buttons on the console. The T4.0 includes iFit workout card technology, but the cards are purchased separately. Each card contains two workouts instructed by a virtual personal trainer that guides and motivates you. Other NordicTrack treadmills offer more advanced, wireless iFit technology that doesn't use the cards.
